Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Merced, CA is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for the Adult Inpatient Crisis Residential Unit. The position offers 4 hours per day after 5 PM, five days per week, including evenings and weekends, with flexible scheduling.

Required: Master’s degree in social work, marriage & family therapy, or psychology, plus at least 1 year of direct mental health experience; licensure options include AMFT/ACSW/APCC or LMFT/LCSW/LPCC as applicable.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution (required).
• Minimum 1 year of direct service experience in a mental health setting (student internship/practicum time accepted).
• Direct experience in an inpatient therapy setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and maintain client documentation, including intake, progress, and discharge notes.
• Assess readiness for admission and discharge; coordinate care with treatment teams and case managers.
• Provide individual and group therapy, facilitate therapeutic groups, and connect clients with community and aftercare resources.

Benefits & Commuter Stipend

This position is eligible for commuter benefits. Employees who commute over 20 miles one-way may receive a monthly stipend:

• $200/month for full-time staff
• $100/month for part-time staff

• Skills & Services: Pre-vocational or vocational counseling and medication evaluation and support services.
