Job summary

Burke is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to provide mental health skills training and case management to children, adolescents and families across Angelina, Trinity, Sabine, Newton and Houston counties. The role requires a QMHP-aligned bachelor’s degree, valid Texas driver’s license, and ability to travel for community-based services.

Responsibilities include emergency assessments, documentation, and collaboration with treatment teams to meet goals, with a 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education or other QMHP-approved human services discipline.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Driving record insurable by Burke’s insurance administrator.
• Reliable personal vehicle with ability to travel the service area.
• Ability to complete SAMA, CPR, First Aid and Defensive Driving training modules.

Position Number: 1484
Compensation: $42,120 - $43,555 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Travel reimbursement is provided.

About the Role

The Mental Health Clinician provides mental health skills and support services to children, adolescents, and their families throughout Burke's service area. This position delivers case management, skills training, and other services according to each consumer's approved treatment plan while ensuring compliance with Agency and Medicaid standards and requirements.

The Mental Health Clinician also conducts emergency assessments when warranted and maintains timely, accurate documentation. This role requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, self-discipline, and the ability to travel throughout Angelina, Trinity, Sabine, Newton, and Houston counties to provide community-based services.

What You'll Do

• Provide mental health skills training and support services to children, adolescents, and their families.

What You Need

Required

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, medicine, registered nurse, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, early childhood intervention, or another Human Services discipline that meets Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements, from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Driving record insurable by Burke's insurance administrator.
• Reliable personal vehicle with the ability to travel routinely throughout the service area.
• Ability to complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training modules.

Preferred

• Six (6) months of direct care experience working with children or adolescents in a behavioral healthcare or educational setting.
• Knowledge of growth and development.
• Familiarity with DSM-IV diagnostic criteria.
• Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW).

Work Schedule

• Monday - Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Occasional after-hours work may be required to complete job responsibilities.
• Routine travel throughout Angelina, Trinity, Sabine, Newton, and Houston counties is required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
• Ability to see, hear, communicate effectively, and perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity.
• Ability to successfully complete the physical requirements necessary for SAMA, CPR, and First Aid training.
