Job summary

Burke is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for the Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) to provide immediate and intensive crisis support to youth and families across Burke's 11-county service region, with potential work from the Nacogdoches and Angelina locations.

The role includes screening, assessment, crisis de-escalation, education, and collaboration with law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, DFPS, and other clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Sociology, Human Growth and Development, Physician Assistant Studies, Gerontology, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Intervention, or another Human Services discipline meeting QMHP requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate and intensive response to individuals in crisis.
  • Offer urgent support to youth and families at risk of emergency or inpatient care.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments for youth and families in need.
  • Deliver crisis de-escalation interventions and hospitalization diversion when appropriate.
  • Provide education and support to youth and their families.
  • Collaborate with YCOT members and other clinical teams.
  • Engage with community partners including law enforcement, schools, and DFPS.
  • Complete required documentation within established timeframes.
  • Maintain organization and time management while responding to crisis needs.
  • Travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region as needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in QMHP eligible fields
Valid Texas driver's license
Travel readiness
SAMA/CPR/First Aid/Defensive Driving training

Compensation: $43,320 - $44,755 annually, depending on qualifications and experience | Travel reimbursement provided
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About the Role

The Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) Mental Health Clinician works closely with other YCOT members and clinical teams to provide immediate and intensive support to individuals in crisis and to youth and families needing urgent care who are at high risk of becoming emergent and potentially requiring inpatient care.

The YCOT team provides screening and assessment for youth and families in need, along with intensive interventions designed to de-escalate crises, provide education, and, whenever possible, divert hospitalization.

This position also provides education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency detention departments, and DFPS. The Mental Health Clinician will cover Burke's 11-county service region and may work from both the Nacogdoches and Angelina locations.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct screenings and assessments for youth and families in need.
  • Provide intensive interventions focused on crisis de-escalation and hospitalization diversion when appropriate.
  • Provide education and support to youth and their families.
  • Collaborate closely with YCOT members and other clinical teams.
  • Provide education and outreach to community partners, including law enforcement, schools, psychiatric hospitals, emergency detention departments, and DFPS.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Maintain flexibility, organization, and effective time management while responding to crisis needs.
  • Travel throughout Burke's 11-county service region as needed.
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Medicine, Nursing, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Sociology, Human Growth and Development, Physician Assistant Studies, Gerontology, Special Education, Educational Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Intervention, or another Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • Dependable transportation and ability to travel throughout Burke's service region.
  • Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA), CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving training.
Preferred
  • Six (6) months of direct care experience working with adults in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health diagnostic criteria.
  • Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW).

Physical Requirements

This position requires sight, hearing, talking, prolonged standing, walking, driving a vehicle, and sufficient hand and finger dexterity to perform job duties. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
