Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a Mental Health Clinician at the Clements Correctional Unit. You will provide evaluations, diagnoses, and counseling for an inmate caseload under senior supervision, with opportunities to grow clinically.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed LPC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inmate risk management and detection of severe mental illness.
  • Provide psychological evaluations, diagnostic services, and counseling to assigned caseload.
  • Complete referrals to medical and mental health providers and crisis management when needed.
  • Conduct telehealth sessions in clinics as assigned.
  • Assist with suicide prevention screening and mental health-related reminders.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Inmate risk management.
  • Detection of severe mental illness in all inmate interaction.
  • General inmate management of severely mentally ill and at risk inmates.
  • Process referrals to the medical and mental health providers.
  • Completes referrals to crisis management.
  • Correct and thorough completion of all types of clinical interviews. Completes all daily documentation by the close of business each day.
  • Notify security of Inmate protection investigation (IPI) and inmate threats toward others as instructed by the Safe Prisons Plan.
  • Processes cancellations of referrals to Behavioral health facility (BHF).
  • Assessments written based upon balanced clinical judgement.
  • Effectively prioritizing job duties while maintaining risk management as a priority. Maintains monthly productivity numbers as set by Behavioral Health Management Team.
  • Adheres to all policies and standards.
  • Professional growth, development, and utilization of supervision.
  • Professionally complete other unit specific tasks, including suicide prevention screener and mental health chain in reminders.
  • Performs a various to be determined and assigned by the Regional Manager, Senior Director, Direct Supervisor, or designees.
  • Conducts telehealth in clinics as assigned.
  • Ensures all inmate reminders are accurate and complete.
  • If applicable: Facilitate group counseling and treatment planning for inpatient or otherwise assigned, inmates.
