Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Mental Health Worker to support inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care. Under the supervision of nursing leadership, you will assist with daily living activities, document care, and help maintain a safe environment for adults and seniors, while coordinating with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications include a state CNA license or equivalent hospital experience, BLS within 30 days of hire, and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid CNA license issued by the state, or at least one year of mental health worker experience in a hospital setting.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• One year of prior mental health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inpatient: assist licensed nursing staff with patient care and ADLs under supervision.
• Document care and communicate patient information to supervising RN.
• Support unit functions and maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Outpatient: support daily living activities program and individual treatment plans.
