Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and basic nursing care under the supervision of the RN in charge. This role emphasizes safety, compassionate care, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital unit.

The position requires CNA certification, BLS within 30 days, and preferred phlebotomy/ECG credentials, with six months of acute care experience. Night shifts are available and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification upon hire is preferred.
• EKG certification upon hire is preferred.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care under RN supervision, maintaining a safe environment.
