Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and provide basic nursing care under the supervision of the RN in charge. This role helps maintain a safe environment and contributes to a compassionate, patient‑centered team.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma, Illinois CNA certification, and BLS within 30 days. Phlebotomy and EKG certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA certification approved in Illinois.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred at hire.
• EKG certification preferred at hire.
• BLS within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Six months’ experience in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe environment on the unit.
