Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Mental Health Worker to support patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (inpatient) or licensed health professional (outpatient). You will assist in identifying patient needs, participate in treatment planning, and help maintain a therapeutic milieu.

The role involves providing individual and group interventions, leading supportive groups, and helping patients develop daily living skills, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and collaboration

Qualifications

• BA/BS from a college or university is required.
• Crisis Prevention Training Certificate or Completion within 90 days of being hired.
• Basic Life Support CPR (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assists in initial and on-going identification of patient problems and strengths.
• Works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members to assist in the development of treatment plans.
• Communicates patient status to registered nurse (inpatient) or licensed health professional (outpatient).
• Provides individual and group intervention to meet patient needs as directed by a licensed health professional.
• Leads or co-leads supportive groups, as determined by the manager.
• Supports patients in developing social, daily living and problem solving skills through individual, group or milieu contact.
• Documents timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in patient’s medical record.

Education

BA/BS from a college or university

Bachelor's degree in human service field
