Theory in New York City is seeking a Technical Designer (Men’s) to own the development cycle from design sketch hand-off through proto creation, SMS refinement, to production hand-off. This role requires a highly organized professional with strong technical design expertise and sample room coordination experience.

You will work closely with design, product development, pattern makers, and in-house sample making teams to ensure fit, sewing construction, and sample quality align with Theory

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical design experience, preferably in contemporary or luxury menswear.
• Proven experience in sample room coordination or domestic production management.
• Strong ability to write detailed tech packs including construction call outs and pattern amendments.

Responsabilités

• Own and manage the development process from initial sketch hand-off to proto sample approval and Salesman samples for global line openings.
• Collaborate with Design and Product Development to preserve design intent while ensuring fit, quality, and manufacturability.
• Serve as primary liaison between Merchandise, Design, Product Development, Fabric, Pattern makers, and in-house sample room through development.
• Coordinate sample room planning, pattern making, cutting, and sewing for wear testing and proto development.
• Lead development fittings across Jacket, Outerwear, Pant, and Woven Tops and C&S.
• Identify technical risks and provide fit and construction solutions.
• Create and maintain tech packs with actionable pattern amendment instructions.
• Partner with global vendors for accurate pattern corrections and sample execution.
• Maintain PLM data and milestone tracking; support Tech Design Director.
