A leading technology firm is seeking a Memory Validation Technician in Austin, TX. The role involves performing hardware and software testing, debugging, and preparing systems for validation. Candidates should have a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and substantial experience in PC hardware validation. This position requires strong multitasking abilities under pressure and excellent communication skills.
JOB DUTIES: Memory Validation technicians perform a variety hardware and software testing to determine functional issues/failures on server systems. Memory Validation technicians are also responsible for the build out of new platforms, including installation of HW, SW to get systems brought online and ready for test. Memory Validation technicians are also responsible for initial failure debug/triage/able to interpret log files. Memory Validation technicians are also responsible for tracking inventory and status of equipment coming into the lab for the team. Technicians are expected to able to follow instruction, maintain detail and thorough notes regarding their testing and results, and communicate well with the rest of the team. Assigned tests must be completed in a timely fashion based off expected completion time and customer/internal roadmap deadlines, Technicians must be able to multi-task under high pressure situations to meet deadline.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: AAS/BS/BE/MS Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Technology; Strong background in computer hardware, software and PC architecture; Extensive familiarity all Windows operating systems, Linux experience, preferred; Minimum of 5+ years with PC hardware and software validation; PC hardware and software troubleshooting/debug/triage skills, required; Experience and technical expertise in PC hardware devices and motherboard architecture; Apply knowledge and principles of PC architecture in order to trouble shoot hardware compatibility issues; Working knowledge/experience with the installation of Linux and Windows operating systems including drivers; Experience flashing BIOS using ROM burner or utilities; Knowledge and ability to locate voltage rails, signals and components through the use of schematics; Ability to read, locate and decipher system registers; Ability to use/setup multi-meter, oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer Lab equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on detail.
