Job Summary

In alignment with Brookdale's Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, the coordinator plans, coordinates, and facilitates a calendar of person-centered dementia-friendly programs that meet the specific needs of each resident within the dementia care community. The role involves providing meaningful dementia care programs to enhance residents' quality of life, recognizing individual abilities and needs, and honoring their routines, interests, and preferences.

Essential Functions

1. Designs a 7-day-a-week person-centered program that is engaging, creative, and meets residents' needs and interests.
2. Promotes and engages residents in the 7 domains of well-being programs within a dementia-friendly environment, including sensory-focused small group programming.
3. Develops a monthly calendar of activities based on residents' shared interests, in partnership with residents.
4. Ensures programs comply with Brookdale standards, regulations, and policies.
5. Collaborates with community leadership to educate and provide resources to families and staff regarding Alzheimer's and other dementias.
6. May supervise Program Assistants, assist with hiring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
7. Participates in planning and executing special events and community activities.
8. Reports changes in residents’ health and behavior to clinical partners and collaborates on interventions.
9. Oversees social media content to ensure alignment with Brookdale's culture and standards.
10. Plans and schedules external programming events, including driving community vehicles if required.
11. Manages departmental budget and expenses, and may oversee volunteer programs.
12. Performs personal care, housekeeping, and dietary duties as needed to maintain service quality.
