Atria Senior Living – Hillcrest in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Life Guidance Specialist to lead engaging recreation programs for residents, including planning and supervising a diverse schedule of activities tailored to individual needs.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of recreational therapy methods for residents with dementia, and state-mandated certifications; flexibility to work varied shifts and collaborate with the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–2 years experience with adults in activities/training.
• Working knowledge of recreational therapy methods and their application to residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
• Certifications required based on state regulations.
• Ability to work various schedules and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Leads Life Guidance programs and develops service plans.
• Offers diversified activities with supervision for each activity.
• Involves Life Guidance staff in planning daily activities including ADLs.
• Plans individual resident birthday celebrations.
• Develops programs for residents, including those confined to rooms.
• Engages and motivates residents to participate.
• Greets new residents and helps integrate them into the community.
• Plans parties/seasonal decorations and monthly birthday events.
• Supports census-building initiatives.
• Maintains records of activities and participation as required by state law.
• Assists in enlisting volunteers for activities program.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
