Job summary

Avamere Communities is seeking a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for memory care residents at Washington Gardens Memory Care in Tigard, Oregon. The role emphasizes adherence to dietary restrictions, sanitation standards, and a warm, home-like dining experience.

The Cook will regularly execute daily menus for all meals, accommodate dietary needs, and maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness while following ServSafe guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of Cook experience, preferably in hospital or healthcare settings.
• Current ServSafe Manager certification or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and production sheets with accuracy.
• Requires a valid Food Handlers card from local Health Department.
• Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and equipment competency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.
• Create alternatives and snacks for changing appetites.
• Adapt recipes for dietary needs (low-sodium, diabetic-friendly, vegetarian, texture-modified).
• Accommodate memory care dining challenges (finger foods, flexible dining times).
• Maintain a warm, calm dining environment and ensure food safety and sanitation.
