Job summary

The Variel is seeking a Memory Care Life Enrichment Assistant to plan, lead, and review engaging programs for residents living with dementia or memory impairment. You will collaborate with the Memory Care team to tailor activities to each resident’s abilities and interests, ensuring a supportive and joyful daily rhythm.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in activities, life enrichment, recreation, teaching, or a related field preferred.
• Genuine passion for working with older adults and creating meaningful experiences.
• Creative, energetic, patient, and comfortable leading both group and individual activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple activities and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead a variety of engaging programs, including arts and crafts, entertainment, social events, brain games, and other cognitive activities.
• Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars and schedules.
• Assist with gathering information, articles, photos, and resident highlights for the Memory Care newsletter.
• Maintain an organized supply of activity materials, books, puzzles, magazines, games, and other resources.
• Introduce residents to appropriate technology programs and provide guidance and support as needed.
• Train and support care staff in activity-related programs and ways to encourage resident participation.
• Work collaboratively with the Memory Care team to adapt activities based on resident abilities, interests, and needs.
• Continuously develop new ideas and opportunities for meaningful engagement in the Memory Care neighborhood.
• Encourage participation while respecting each resident’s preferences, abilities, and comfort level.
• Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for residents.
• Attend required meetings, training, and educational sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
