Job summary

Avamere at Park Place in Portland, OR is seeking a Life Enrichment Assistant to support Memory Care residents. You will help plan and run activities, coordinate events, and foster engagement, wellbeing, and social connections in our community.

This part-time role requires driving capability, strong communication, and teamwork. You will assist the Life Enrichment Director, lead groups and one-on-one interactions, transport residents as needed, and maintain safe, welcoming activity spaces.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 25 years old to drive company vehicle.
• Prefer experience in long-term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and/or critical care.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Active and unencumbered Driver’s License.
• Experience with volunteer work and/or activities with geriatric population.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Creative, flexible, patient and empathetic with geriatric population.
• Able to make responsible choices in residents' best interest.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Must maintain active CPR/BLS during employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing activities including games, exercise programs, arts and crafts, music sessions, and social events.
• Create activity schedules and calendars with a variety of options.
• Prepare activity areas, gather supplies, and ensure a safe environment.
• Lead group activities and engage residents in one-on-one interactions.
• Encourage participation and provide assistance as needed.
• Observe residents' responses and report changes to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain records of resident participation and feedback.
• Coordinate with staff, volunteers, and families to meet resident needs.
• Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
