Maplewood Senior Living in Darien, CT, is seeking a Memory Care Assistant for part-time weekend shifts. The role supports the Memory Care Director in implementing therapeutic programs that maximize residents’ quality of life.

Responsibilities include leading activities for memory-impaired residents, coordinating calendars, assisting with dining and safety protocols, and maintaining program supplies. A passion for seniors and dementia understanding are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree or two years of college in social work, nursing, psychology, gerontology or related field, or two years of full-time experience in recreation with adults.
• Must have a passion for working with seniors and improving quality of life.
• Basic understanding of Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases is essential.
• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
• Basic typing skills and computer knowledge; familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Publisher and creative software.

Responsibilities

• Engage residents in memory-care activities and lead therapeutic recreation programs.
• Coordinate monthly calendars and assist with special events.
• Support dining program by assisting in setting up and serving in a respectful manner.
• Maintain program supplies and assist with care plan documentation.
