Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy methods and applying them to residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
• Required state certifications based on regulations.
• Ability to work varied schedules and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead Life Guidance programs and develop service plans.
• Provide diversified recreational activities with supervision.
• Involve Life Guidance staff in planning daily activities and daily living tasks.
• Plan individual birthday celebrations for residents.
• Develop programs for residents including those confined to rooms.
• Engage and motivate residents to participate in activities.
• Greet new residents and integrate them with others with similar interests.
• Assist in planning parties and decorating the community for seasons/holidays.
• Support census-building initiatives.
• Maintain records of activities and participation as required by state law.
• Assist in enlisting volunteers for activities.
