Qualifications

• Knowledge of recreational therapy methods and their application to activities for residents with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
• Working knowledge of activity programming and implementation.
• Required certification(s) based on current state regulations.
• Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead Life Guidance programs and develop service plans.
• Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities with supervision.
• Involve Life Guidance staff in daily program planning and activities of daily living.
• Plan individual birthday celebrations for each resident.
• Develop programs for residents including those confined to their rooms.
• Engage and motivate residents to participate in programs.
• Greet new residents and introduce them to others with similar interests.
• Assist in planning parties and activities and decorating the community by season/holiday.
• Support census-building initiatives within the community.
• Maintain records of activities and resident participation as required by state law.
• Assist Life Guidance Director in enlisting volunteers for the activities program.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
