Job summary

Smithbucklin, a Washington, DC office-based firm, seeks a Membership Manager to lead ISTAT's membership strategy and operations. You will supervise the Membership Operations team, partner with volunteers and the Executive Director, and drive member value from recruitment through retention.

You will manage programs, structure processes, and implement technology-enabled improvements to boost engagement, measure success, and support ISTAT's growth goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Five or more years of association membership or related experience.
• Experience managing staff and teams.
• Experience administering or owning an Association Management System (AMS).
• Strong project management with multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to leverage automation and AI-enabled tools.
• Willingness to travel a few times per year.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into practical initiatives and measurable outcomes.
• Lead ISTAT's membership strategy in partnership with the Executive Director and volunteers.
• Improve member experience, operational efficiency, and overall value.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of ISTAT's membership program and oversee the Membership Operations team.
• Develop policies, procedures, and workflows to support excellence.
• Coordinate mentoring programs and engage mentors/mentees.
• Collaborate with volunteers to translate committee recommendations into actions.
