Job summary

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) is seeking a Membership Operations Specialist in Gaithersburg, MD to manage SFPE’s CRM-driven operations and member relationships.

The role focuses on database optimization, invoicing, reporting, and ensuring data integrity, with regular travel to SFPE’s Annual Conference and a hybrid work arrangement in Gaithersburg.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and 3–5 years of database, membership relations, customer service, or related experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365 and experience with CRM/AMS databases is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to travel to SFPE’s Annual Conference and work onsite in Gaithersburg, MD at least 1 day per week.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison for SFPE and staff to the CRM provider, MemberSuite.
• Identify and resolve database issues and develop solutions with MemberSuite support.
• Serve as initial point of contact for membership needs via email and phone.
• Oversee administration of member renewal invoicing processes.
• Create reports from the database to support financial and accounting review.
• Partner with the Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller to improve database-related financial processes.
• Oversee member and partner data integrity and database structure improvements.
• Respond to memberships inquiries via phone, email and social media.
• Oversee invoicing administration including records management, printing, mailing from Gaithersburg office.
• Document all donations and partnership revenue with Partnership & Sales Manager.

The Society of Fire Protection Engineersis seeking a Membership Operations Specialist to manage andoptimizeSFPE’s database-centered operations.Thisessentialrolewill focus on building andmaintainingrelationships with members, chapters, and industry partners and acts as the primary liaison and problem-solver for the SFPE when it comes to our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system,MemberSuite.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree inrelevantdiscipline.
• 3-5 years of database experience, membership relations, customer service, fundraising, relationship management, or equivalent combination.
• Proficiencyin MS Office 365 isrequired.
• Experienceusing CRMor Association Management Software (AMS)databases isrequired.
• Experience with database improvements,datamanagementand reporting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and prior experience working with engineers or other STEMprofessionalsa plus.
• Experience workingin a small, high-energy organization; a team player willing to take on new challenges withdemonstratedability to partner with staff and member volunteers.
• Ability to travel to SFPE’s Annual Conference
• Ability to workonsitein Gaithersburg, MD at least 1 day per week.
