Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a dynamic Membership Director to lead membership growth, retention, and member engagement at one of our branches. You will oversee tours, onboarding, and programs, while collaborating with other leaders to strengthen the Y’s role as a community hub.

The ideal candidate brings a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 3+ years in membership or customer experience leadership, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Lead and Support Your Team

• Recruit, develop, and inspire a high-performing membership team
• Collaborate with branch leadership to support operational goals and branch initiative

What You Bring:

• Proven ability to lead and develop teams to deliver exceptional member experiences
• Experience growing membership and retention through relationship-building and engagement
• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for creating welcoming environments
• Results-driven with the ability to use data and execute effectively
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 3+ years in membership, sales, or customer experience leadership
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Knowledge of the Alexandria community is a plus
