Job summary

STRS Ohio is seeking a Member Service Representative to join the Member Benefits/Member Services Center team on-site in Columbus. You will respond to member inquiries by telephone, explain benefits and services, and maintain accurate records to ensure high-quality member experiences.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2–3 years in a customer-service environment, and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College-level coursework or three years’ relevant experience required.
• Two to three years’ experience in a customer-service environment required; STRS Ohio benefit experience preferred.
• General knowledge of STRS Ohio Health Care plans and related programs.
• Ability to explain tax-related concepts and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries regarding STRS Ohio benefits and services.
• Calculate and explain values and benefits.
• Input and retrieve information in mainframe and other software.
• Maintain records and coordinate transfer of call ownership.
• Provide administrative support to the member services center.
• Identify and refer to online resources and provide printed materials when needed.
• Escalate complex issues to senior staff with detailed information.
