Job summary

Consumers Power Inc. seeks a Member Services Representative to support residents and businesses with utility services and billing.

You will work both independently and with the Member Services team to ensure exceptional customer service for CPI members and internal/external customers. This is a union position within IBEW Local #659, emphasizing reliability, integrity and ethical standards in daily duties and interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of post‑high school education.
• Two years of clerical or accounting experience, or a mix of education and experience providing required knowledge and abilities.
• Valid Oregon State driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public with inquiries in person, by phone, or online about billing, rates and services.
• Handle credit and collection calls for non-escalated matters.
• Prepare bills, initiate and maintain service orders and records.
• Enroll customers in auto-pay and pre-paid programs.
• Accept payments and make arrangements; prepare deposits.
• Issue disconnect and reconnect work orders.
• Prepare correspondence and accounting reports; maintain records.
• Maintain asset records and provide detailed information as needed.
• Represent CPI with professional public relations.
• Communicate respectfully with customers, coworkers and the Board of Directors.
• Complete special projects and other duties to meet goals.
