Job summary

Wakefield is an applied research lab delivering AI-native security services. We build security agents and publish how they work, with public data and benchmarks. Our team runs sandboxes and browser automation to test customer apps against new AI model releases, keeping data isolated and secure.

We hire for hands-on engineers who design from scratch, scale production infra, and ship code daily. Location is San Francisco, in person, with visa sponsorship and meaningful equity.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Own sandboxes that start fast and can be replayed across long scans.
• Develop browser infrastructure for agents signing in as multiple roles.
• Manage the egress proxy and per-org rate limits and full records.
• Run scans on demand, on PRs, and with every model release.
• Ensure tenant isolation and a single deployment model for cloud and customer-hosted instances.
• Contribute to internal AI tooling for infra monitoring and maintenance

Job description

We find and fix every vulnerability in our customers' applications. When a new AI model is released, we run it against their applications before attackers do, and close what it finds.

About Wakefield

Wakefield is an applied research lab working on AI-native security services. We build security agents and publish how they work. Our methods, benchmark and raw data are public so anyone can check them.

• Source code optional: blackbox agents sign in as every role and test the running app. Whitebox agents read the code on every pull request.

• If Wakefield can't prove it, the customer never sees it: agents replay each finding in a real browser and record it. Then Wakefield writes the fix, ready to open as a pull request, and retests it. We have SLAs for zero false positives.

• One service that replaces DAST, SAST, SCA, SBOM, and the tests companies run in-house or buy in.

The role

Wakefield's agents run in sandboxes for hours at a time, sign in to customer applications as many users at once, drive real browsers, and record everything they do. All of their traffic goes through one controlled path. You'll own the layer they run on: sandboxes and browsers, the egress proxy, the system that schedules and runs scans, and the deployment that keeps each customer's data apart.

What you'll work on

• Sandboxes that start fast, hold state through long scans, and can be replayed.

• Browser infrastructure for agents that sign in as many roles at once and record every step.

• The egress proxy every agent request goes through: scope checks, rate limits for each organization, and a full record.

• Running scans on demand, on every pull request, and against every new model release.

• Tenant isolation, and one deployment model for our cloud and for customers who need their own.

• Internal AI tooling that automates our infrastructure, deployment monitoring and maintenance.
