Wakefield is an applied research lab focused on AI-native security services. We build security agents and publish how they work, with public methods, benchmarks and data for verification.

You'll own the Wakefield console end to end, from schema to UI: findings and their proof, fixes, scans, chat, and the MCP server that integrates Wakefield into familiar tools.

Location: San Francisco, in person. We sponsor visas, offer competitive salary, and meaningful equity to the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering experience or equivalent depth from open source or your own projects.
• Time at a fast-growing startup.
• You've built products from scratch and shipped them to real users.
• You've owned polished features end to end, from backend to UI.
• Strong product and design judgment: what to cut, what to polish, when to ship.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals: Python, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, debugging unfamiliar code.
• You use coding agents every day and still understand every line you ship.
• You build and tinker for fun because you genuinely care about how products are made and used.

Responsibilities

• Own the Wakefield console end to end, from schema to UI: findings and their proof, fixes, scans, chat, and the integrations and MCP server that bring Wakefield into the tools people already use.
• The finding page: the recording, the requests, the steps to reproduce and the fix, clear enough for someone who isn't a security expert.
• Adding an application and a test login for each role, and following the agents while they work.
• Fixes: patches with a confidence level, pull requests a person opens, and retests that confirm the fix.
• Chat and the MCP server, so people can ask Wakefield what to fix first from wherever they work.
• Integrations with GitHub, Jira, Linear, Slack and the rest.
• Reports a CISO can hand to a board or an auditor.
