Job summary

YMCA of Tuscaloosa is seeking a full-time Member Experience Director to design and deliver programs while overseeing facility operations at the Downtown Tuscaloosa location. You will lead the Welcome Center, supervise staff, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere that supports members and guests through wellness programming.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting involvement, and community engagement to strengthen relationships with members and partners while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least 2 years of progressive departmental management experience.
• 3+ years of experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
• Ability to supervise staff, recruit, train, and develop personnel.
• Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse populations and establish collaborations with community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Operate Membership and facility departments to support YMCA's strategic direction.
• Lead member involvement and relationship-building to increase participation.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop and direct staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Represent YMCA in the community and develop partnerships with organizations and government entities.
• Develop and deliver training for personnel and staff development.
• Assist budgeting and work with Finance to meet targets.
• Provide administrative support to the CEO and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Develop and direct high-quality member engagement programs aligned with branch goals.
• Communicate YMCA impact to staff, volunteers, members and community leaders.
• Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and community events.
• Maintain safety and leadership training certifications.
