Job summary

Weir in Newton, MS is seeking a Production Team Member - Melting Specialist to join our onsite team. You will support multiple melting operations, operate the EAF, pour and move molten metal, and help maintain safety and cleanliness in the melting department.

You will train and cross-train colleagues, document process records, and adapt to different operator roles as demand dictates. A high school diploma and crane/forklift certification are required or preferred, with Lean experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in Crane and Forklift operation through WEIR ESCO.
• Ability to perform multiple roles within the melting department while maintaining safety.
• Experience with Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operations preferred.
• Knowledge of lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen) preferred.
• Experience in refractory work or molten metal handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a positional floater within the Melting Department, filling in at any operator position.
• Move loads including ladles of molten metal through melting and pouring bays, tend to the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF).
• Input and maintain accurate process and pouring records, inform operators or supervisors of unfavorable pouring conditions.
• Assist with training new hires and cross-training team members to ensure operational readiness and flexibility.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the melting department by shoveling waste materials and performing various tasks with mobile equipment.
