Job summary

WEIR's Newton, MS foundry team is seeking a Foundry Technician to perform maintenance and repair of ladles and vessels, handle refractory tasks, and support material preparation and data collection. You will operate a crane, participate in lean initiatives, and uphold safety standards in a high‑tempo foundry environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and availability for a first shift (3:00 a.m.

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work onsite during first shift (3:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.).
Commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair ladles and vessels including relining AOD vessels, bottom-pour ladles, and transfer ladles.
Remove old refractory linings, replace bricks, install refractory materials, and support general refractory duties when vessels are unavailable.
Build, press, and set up stopper rods; maintain operational buffer; build baskets used in ladles.
Prepare wet sand and mix castables for refractory applications.
Position vessels, ladles, and materials using overhead crane; collect and enter data; ensure ladles meet process and quality standards.
Participate in lean programs including 6S, Visual Management, and Kaizen to maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm safety culture.
