Job summary

Commercial Metals Seguin plant is seeking a motivated entry-level operator to train in melt shop areas, read manuals, and operate equipment. You will work a 12-hour shift, weekends and holidays as needed, and join a team focused on safety and efficiency.

You will gain hands-on experience across furnace, ladle, casting, refractories, and crane operations, with pathways for advancement and training. Day 1 benefits, competitive pay, and strong safety culture support your professional growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year field experience in heavy industrial operations or manufacturing.
• Must be able to work a 12 hour shift including overtime, weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance and work completion.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in extreme conditions (temperature, dust, noise).
• Strong communication in English and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Train in all areas of the Melt Shop: Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, Refractories.
• Read, interpret, and utilize manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Operate mobile equipment such as Forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Interpret operational procedures and work instructions.
• Complete daily equipment inspection reports each shift.
• Support CMC safety programs and culture.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE to prevent injuries.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and teamwork.
• Perform daily housekeeping and maintain clean work areas.
• Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
