Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Seguin, TX, is hiring for a Melt Shop operator. You will train across Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories, read manuals and schematics, and operate forklifts and cranes to support production.

You will follow safety procedures, participate in safety programs, and contribute to a strong safety culture. Requires 1+ year heavy industrial experience, and the ability to work a 12-hour shift including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year field experience in heavy industrial operations or manufacturing preferred.
• Ability to work a 12 hour shift, including overtime weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
• Must stand for up to 12 hours; capable of walking, climbing stairs and reaching to operate equipment.
• Team player with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn quickly and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Train in all areas of the Melt Shop to include Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories.
• Read, interpret, and utilize manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Follow safety procedures including Job Safety Analysis and Work Instructions.
• Ensure daily equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
• Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold the Safety Culture.
• Adhere to PPE and safety rules to prevent injuries.
• Assist with startup/shutdown and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
