Job summary

Gerdau in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Melt Shop Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate maintenance efforts for the Melt Shop and lead a team to improve processes and reliability. The role reports to the Melt Shop Superintendent and requires strong PLC, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge integrated with SAP/CMMS usage.

The candidate will manage budgets, train staff, and drive improvements in safety and efficiency in a heavy manufacturing environment in Charlotte, NC.

Qualifications

• Four year degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Mechanical Engineering preferred; 8+ years of applicable experience considered in lieu of degree.
• 2+ years in an industrial/manufacturing environment with maintenance/reliability exposure.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; SAP/CMMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure routine maintenance management is followed and improvements identified.
• Coordinate maintenance efforts for the Melt Shop and work with the Supervisor.
• Standardize processes and train personnel; manage budgets for the area.
• Develop preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.

Your Purpose:

This position directly reports to the Melt Shop Superintendent. The incumbent will coordinate the maintenance efforts for the Melt Shop and will work closely with the other Maintenance Routine Facilitator to ensure the best maintenance results in the Melt Shop.

You Have:

• Four year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration or other related field strong preferred. May consider 8+ years of applicable experience in lieu of degree.
• Mechanical Engineering preferred
• 2+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to maintenance and reliability practices.
• Basic Knowledge of maintenance and troubleshooting on PLCs, drives and motors.
• Experience and knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of the industrial manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy machinery and related equipment..
• Successful candidate will demonstrate a basic knowledge of the business systems and the use of complex technical and engineering processes. Requires the ability to train and guide people.
• The incumbent should possess solid presentation abilities combined with good interpersonal and organizational skills. People management skills a must.
• Strong analytical computer skills. Previous experience with SAP or other CMMS systems preferred.

Your Work:

• The major role of this job is to ensure routine management efforts are followed and opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the area of responsibility are identified.
• The incumbent should be detail oriented and must be comfortable working with associates at all levels within the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for standardization administration as it relates to processes in control standards, management standards, routine procedures, LOTOTO procedures, job aids andone point lessons.
• This positionis responsible for ensuring standardization of processes within the area of responsibility.
• These duties will include needs assessments, auditing, coaching of maintenance/reliability improvement programs and standards,technical training, 5S improvements, development and implementation of cost and environmental control goals, development and implementation of new and current preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.
• Develop and oversee budget for assigned area.
