Job summary

Gerdau North America in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Rolling Mill Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to lead electrical maintenance for the rolling mill, coordinating with mechanical maintenance to optimize reliability and uptime. You will report to the Rolling Mill Superintendent and manage standardization, troubleshooting on PLCs, drives and motors, and the preventive maintenance program across the plant.

The role requires strong leadership, safety focus, and the ability to train and guide

Qualifications

• Four year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• 2+ years in industrial/manufacturing environment with maintenance/reliability exposure.
• Experience maintaining/troubleshooting PLCs, drives and motors.
• Knowledge of heavy machinery and related equipment in manufacturing.
• Experience with high/medium voltage equipment preferred.
• Ability to train and guide staff; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical computer skills; SAP or CMMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee routine maintenance and identify improvement opportunities in processes and production.
• Coordinate standardization of processes, control standards, and work procedures.
• Ensure standardization within the area of responsibility.
• Lead needs assessments, audits, coaching, training, and 5S improvements.
• Develop and manage the budget for the assigned area.

Your Purpose

This position directly reports to the Rolling Mill Superintendent. The incumbent will coordinate the electrical maintenance efforts for the Rolling Mill, and will work closely with Mechanical Maintenance, to ensure the best maintenance results in the Rolling Mill.

You Have

• Four year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration or other related field strong preferred. May consider 8+ years of applicable experience in lieu of degree.
• 2 + years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to maintenance and reliability practices.
• Experience performing maintenance and troubleshooting on PLCs, drives and motors preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of the industrial manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy machinery and related equipment.
• Experience performing maintenance on high/ medium voltage industrial equipment preferred.
• Successful candidate will demonstrate a basic knowledge of the business systems and the use of complex technical and engineering processes. Requires the ability to train and guide people. The incumbent should possess solid presentation abilities combined with good interpersonal and organizational skills. People management skills a must.
• Strong analytical computer skills. Previous experience with SAP or other CMMS systems preferred.

Your Work

• The major role of this job is to ensure routine management efforts are followed and opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the area of responsibility are identified.
• The incumbent should be detail oriented and must be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels within the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for standardization administration as it relates to processes in control standards, management standards, routine procedures, job aids and One Point Lessons.
• This position is responsible for ensuring standardization of processes within the area of responsibility.
• These duties will include needs assessments, auditing, coaching of maintenance/reliability improvement programs and standards, technical training, 5S improvements, development and implementation of cost and environmental control goals, development and implementation of new and current preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.
• Develop and oversee budget for assigned area.
