Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Human Factors Engineer co-op to join the IDHF/UX team in Raritan, NJ. You will lead user research, contribute to design decisions, and support usability testing for medical devices and related training materials.

The role requires enrollment in a relevant degree program, at least 4 months availability, and a strong interest in human factors. On-site work at our Raritan location is expected, with a competitive hourly pay range and benefits for Co‑Ops/Interns.

Qualifikationen

• Currently enrolled in a college pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in Human Factors Engineering, Usability Engineering, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Only 2nd year of bachelor’s or above will be considered.
• Authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship.
• Availability for at least a 4‑month co‑op rotation.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 with demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs.
• Understanding of the research process; design project experience or user-centered research is preferred.
• Familiarity with FDA, ISO, AAMI and other usability standards for medical devices is highly preferred.

Aufgaben

• Leverage human factors standards and best practices to inform new product designs and ensure concepts support safe, effective, and satisfying use.
• Plan, conduct, and report user research activities (ethnography, focus groups, formative usability tests, and HF validation tests).
• Consolidate user feedback into meaningful design insights and actionable recommendations.
• Perform root cause analysis for use-related problems during hands-on usability tests.
• Understand use environments and participate in creating user workflows.
• Know regulatory imperatives for medical device human factors including IEC 62366 and FDA guidance.
• Contribute to human factors documentation including test plans/reports, expert reviews, and use-related risk analyses.
• Author study documentation (informed consent forms, screeners, moderator guides, use error checklists).
