Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Human Factors Engineer Co‑op for the IDHF/UX organization in Raritan, NJ, Jan–May 2027. On-site; housing not provided. Eligible Co‑Ops may receive a stipend.

Work includes HF research, usability testing, and documentation to support safe medical device design. Requirements include enrollment in a relevant degree program (Bachelor’s/Master’s), 4‑month availability, GPA 3.0+, and US work authorization without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field; PhD candidates not considered.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no future sponsorship required.
• Available for at least a 4-month co‑op rotation.
• GPA 3.0+ with leadership/ campus participation or service.
• Familiarity with FDA, ISO, AAMI and other usability standards is preferred.
• CPT/OPT/STEM OPT may require sponsorship for long-term employment.

Responsibilities

• Leverage human factors standards to inform safe, effective product designs.
• Plan, conduct, and report user research activities (ethnography, focus groups, formative usability, HF validation).
• Consolidate user feedback into meaningful design insights and recommendations.
• Perform root cause analysis for use‑related problems observed during tests.
• Understand use environments and help create user workflows.
• Contribute to HF documentation and risk analyses in line with regulatory guidance.
• Author study documentation like consent forms and moderator guides.
