Ideal candidates have 2+ years in equipment/automation within medical devices or life sciences, with hands-on electromechanical skills and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Controls, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant equipment, automation, maintenance, manufacturing, or test engineering experience in medical device, robotics, life sciences, semiconductor, aerospace, or another regulated environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with electromechanical equipment, automated test systems, robotics, controls, instrumentation, or calibration.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, design controls, controlled documentation, change control, deviation/nonconformance processes, and equipment qualification concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned manufacturing and test equipment through specification, selection, design review, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, qualification, release, maintenance, modification, and retirement.

  • Monitor equipment Availability and uptime; analyze downtime events, MTBF, MTTR, work-order history, repeat failures, and response effectiveness; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze equipment Performance losses such as slow cycles, micro-stops, jams, intermittent faults, and reduced operating rate; confirm baseline and ideal-cycle assumptions before declaring improvement.
  • Analyze equipment Quality losses, including equipment-related defects, rework, false failures, measurement-system issues, and calibration drift; partner with Quality and Process Engineering on containment and root cause.
  • Use structured problem solving such as 5 Whys, fault-tree analysis, fishbone, FMEA, and data trending to eliminate repeat failures and verify effectiveness.
  • Create accurate CMMS work orders and asset records; use maintenance history to optimize PM tasks, frequencies, spare parts, and equipment readiness.
  • Coordinate suppliers and technicians, support audits and inspections, and train users on safe and compliant equipment operation.
