The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, administering, and delivering medicines to residents as prescribed, providing superior customer service, and adhering to policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with medications, treatments, and care within scope of practice and regulations
• Observe, verify, and document medication administration
• Notify supervisor if medication is not administered correctly and document reasons
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of medication and care
• Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacies, and physicians, verifying dosages
• Track medication orders and prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
• Participate in narcotic counts and report discrepancies
• Assist caregivers and assume responsibilities as needed
• Respond promptly and kindly to resident needs, respecting dignity and safety
• Follow care plans to ensure proper care
• Assist with daily living activities and transportation, following safety techniques

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least one year of experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician
• CNA certification preferred
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS certification
• Background checks as per regulations
• Meet health requirements, including TB testing
