Job summary

Clearwater Living Newport Beach is seeking a full-time Medication Technician to document, deliver and administer medications to residents with superior service. The role requires a minimum of one year in caregiving or medication tech, CNA preferred, and First Aid/CPR/BLS certification.

Pay range is $21.00–$22.00 per hour, with a Friday-Monday 6:00am-2:30pm schedule. Join a team focused on providing high-quality care in a luxury senior living community.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background clearances as required by government regulations.
• Must meet health requirements, including TB.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned.
• Comply with scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s) why.
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing.
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, report discrepancies to supervisors.
• Assist caregivers in their duties and assume caregiver activities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly while maintaining dignity, safety and confidentiality.
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is given.
• Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals and activities.
• Provide meal-time assistance with selecting meals, serving, eating and clearing trays.
• Transport residents safely to meals, activities or other transportation needs.

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering, and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $22.00/hour

Schedule: Friday-Monday 6:00am-2:30pm

• Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self‑respect, personal dignity, personal safety and confidentiality
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to their residents
• Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including shaving, hair care, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including taking to bathrooms, portable commodes, changing incontinence products, etc.)
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or other transportation needs as requested or assigned
