Job summary

Clearwater Ahwatukee is seeking a full-time Medication Technician in Phoenix, AZ to document, deliver, and administer medicines with a focus on exceptional resident care.

You will follow policies and collaborate with physicians and the pharmacy to ensure safe, accurate medication practices while maintaining residents’ dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of work as a Caregiver or Medication Technician is expected.
• CNA certification is preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS certification is required.
• Background clearances as required by regulations.
• Must meet health requirements, including TB.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications and care per policy and regulations.
• Observe and document medication administration as directed.
• Notify supervisor if medications are not administered correctly and record reasons.
• Maintain confidential, accurate medication and care records.
• Coordinate med services with residents, pharmacy, and physicians; verify dosages.
• Prepare medications for distribution; manage changes and refills ahead of time.
• Participate in narcotic counts and report discrepancies.
• Assist caregivers and perform caregiver duties when needed.
• Respond promptly to resident needs while preserving dignity and safety.
• Read care plans to ensure proper care and assist with daily living activities.

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Schedule: 6:00am-2:00pm

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and
• with the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and
• documenting the reason(s) why
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care
• in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verifying
• dosages with physician prior to dispensing
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution
• up to 24 hours in advance
• Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any
• and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and
• responsibilities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect,
• personal dignity, personal safety and confidentiality
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to their residents
• Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including
• shaving, hair care, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including taking to
• bathrooms, portable commodes, changing incontinence products, etc.)
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following
• all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or
• other transportation needs as requested or assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required
• Background clearances as required by government regulations
• Must meet health requirements, including TB
