Job summary

Clearwater Newport Beach is seeking a part-time Medication Technician to join our premier luxury senior living community in Newport Beach. The role involves documenting, delivering and administering medications with a strong focus on resident care and compliance with policies and regulators.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background clearances as required by government regulations.
• TB health requirements as part of health standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions.
• Document reasons for any deviations in administration.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records on resident medication and care per procedures.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician, verifying dosages prior to dispensing.
• Track changes and refills a nd prepare medications up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotic counts at shift start and end, report discrepancies to supervisors.

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $22.00

Schedule: Friday & Saturday 2:00pm-10:30pm

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and
• with the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and
• documenting the reason(s) why
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verifying dosages with physician prior to dispensing
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
• Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity, personal safety and confidentiality
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to their residents
• Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including shaving, hair care, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including taking to bathrooms, portable commodes, changing incontinence products, etc.)
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or other transportation needs as requested or assigned
