Job summary

The Dimock Center seeks a compassionate Medication Specialist to manage medications for residents in a BSAS-licensed COE program, ensuring safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

This full-time, on-site position in Roxbury collaborates with nurses and pharmacists, supports medication reconciliation, storage, self-administration, and transition of care, and requires current Medication Specialist Certification and CPI within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with a vulnerable population.
• Education or training in medication management or behavioral health preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Must meet BSAS requirements for Medication Specialist training and competency.

Responsibilities

• Support coordination and management of residents' prescribed medications in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Complete medication reconciliation during admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Receive, verify, document, securely store, and maintain medications per procedures.
• Oversee resident self-administration of medications within credentialed scope.
• Maintain accurate medication administration records and clinical documentation.
• Coordinate with pharmacies, hospitals, and prescribing clinicians to ensure continuity of treatment.
• Follow procedures for controlled substances and special handling medications.
• Monitor medication effectiveness, adverse effects, and adherence; address concerns with the team.
• Assist with storage, disposal of expired medications, and inventory management.
