Job summary

Walworth County Care Center is seeking a dedicated Medication Aide to assist in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of nursing leadership and the Director of Nursing Services.

You will follow state and facility policies, participate in QA activities, and help ensure accurate medication pass and resident safety in a skilled nursing environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant with Medication Aide certification as approved by the State.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition and interact tactfully with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document medications as ordered by physicians.
• Verify medications brought by new residents are identified and checked.
• Follow labeling policies and ensure all medications are properly labeled.
• Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
• Follow procedures for recording orders in the resident's clinical record (type, route, dosage, frequency, strength).
• Record and report vitals of residents as required.
• Notify Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor of medication errors or adverse reactions.
