Job summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), CMS, Offices of Hearings and Inquiries, Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB). You will serve as an Accountant, GS-0510-14, working with accountants, attorneys and PRRB board members on Medicare contractors’ accounting and payment systems.

You will advise on cost reporting, auditing, and related accounting issues, train staff on the cost report process, and provide technical support to parties in PRRB appeals,

Qualifications

• Experience with Medicare Part A cost reporting and related accounting processes.
• Ability to train staff and board members on cost reporting procedures.
• Strong advisory skills for accountants, attorneys and board members.

Responsibilities

• Advise on cost reporting, auditing, and accounting issues related to Medicare Part A cost reports.
• Train staff and Board Members on the cost report process.
• Provide technical support to parties in PRRB appeals.
• Advise PRRB or Hearing Officers on complex accounting and legal issues.
• Prepare comprehensive written decisions outlining facts, issues, and relevant law.
