Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial oversight and internal controls within the Office of Financial Management. You will review, reconcile, and analyze accounting data, ensuring accuracy of reports and adherence to GAAP.

The role offers a federal government career ladder with opportunities to advance from GS-9 to GS-12, and telework eligibility in Woodlawn, MD.

Qualificações

• Degree in accounting with 24 semester hours in accounting (or CPA/CIA)
• Experience with account reconciliation and GAAP principles is required
• Exposure to general ledger and financial reporting processes is a plus

Responsabilidades

• Apply accounting principles, financial management policies, procedures, and internal control requirements
• Monitor financial reporting and accounting activities to evaluate accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial information
• Analyze accounting and financial issues, identify trends or problems, and develop recommendations to improve operations
• Provide accounting guidance and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including program officials and auditors

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and reconcile financial reports, accounting records, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
• Apply accounting principles, financial management policies, procedures, and internal control requirements
• Monitor financial reporting and accounting activities to evaluate accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial information
• Analyze accounting and financial issues, identify trends or problems, and develop recommendations to improve operations
• Provide accounting guidance and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including program officials and auditors

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting (or qualifying combination of education and experience, or CPA/CIA)

Required Skills

• For GS-9: Experience performing account reconciliation, examining accounting processes per GAAP, and verifying accuracy of accounting data
• For GS-11: Experience reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing automated accounting system issues, and preparing operational guidance/procedures

Pay range and compensation package

• Salary: $70,623 - $111,087/year (varies by grade)
• Location: Woodlawn, MD (Telework eligible)
• Grade Levels: GS-0510-9/11 (2 vacancies) — career ladder to GS-12
