Summary

The Medicare Benefit Consultant (MBC) is a field-based role responsible for enrolling Medicare beneficiaries, residing in skilled nursing or assisted living facilities, into the Curana Health Special Needs Plan (ISNP). We seek an outgoing, driven individual with sales experience to join our expanding Medicare Advantage sales team. The role involves enrolling beneficiaries through telephonic and in-person sales, either from your home office or onsite at local nursing homes. The position reports to the Regional Sales Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide verification of appropriate state health licenses at offer extension and complete our Sales Agent New Hire training upon hire.
  • If not licensed, candidates with relevant skills may be considered; however, licensing (including passing exams and AHIP) must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain licensed appointment through Curana Health.
  • Enroll Medicare members via telephonic and in-person sales.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with agencies and organizations focused on the Medicare population within the assigned territory.
  • Manage prospecting, sales, servicing, retention, and penetration activities within the territory.
  • Work independently, managing time and territory effectively to meet sales and service standards.
  • Become proficient in all plans and products in the assigned book of business.
  • Conduct plan training sessions with partner staff to support sales efforts.
  • Utilize traditional sales strategies to identify needs and highlight plan features and benefits.
  • Achieve enrollment targets for the territory.
  • Document all activity to ensure compliance with Medicare Marketing Guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service throughout the sales process.
  • Resolve customer inquiries related to benefits and eligibility.
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills, including overcoming objections.
  • Be goal-oriented and self-motivated with a competitive personality.

Education

  • Minimum: Associate Degree or 3-5 years relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate advanced knowledge of the Medicare industry and trends.
  • Proactive servicing approach, excellent organization, responsiveness, and problem-solving skills.
  • At least 3 years of sales or customer service experience analyzing customer needs.
  • Experience in sales (B2C or B2B), skilled nursing, business development, or related fields preferred.
  • State insurance licensure within 30 days of hire or ability to obtain.
  • Maintain licensure and certifications as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Effective communication skills, including public speaking and cold calling.
  • Computer literacy and ability to lift 25 pounds of collateral materials.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to travel 90% within the local territory.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
