Job summary

PACE Southeast Michigan in Sterling Heights seeks an Transportation Driver to safely transport program participants and medical supplies between sites and residences. The role emphasizes safety, proper transfer techniques, and adherence to CMS-approved competencies.

You will assist participants, ensure secure wheelchair seating, and participate in trainings and staff meetings. The position requires a valid CDL, CPR, and strong physical stamina.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Valid Michigan CDL License Class A or B; Passenger endorsement preferred.
• Experience transporting individuals with mobility needs.
• Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds or more and perform heavy physical work.
• Must meet CMS competency standards before working.
• Immunizations up-to-date and medically cleared for communicable diseases.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook.
• Pass post-offer background check, health screening, drug test, TB and MMR.

Responsibilities

• Transport program participants to and from the program site or other locations as directed.
• Assist participants to and from vehicle, residences, or center using appropriate assistive devices.
• Secure wheelchairs and safety belts for wheelchair participants.
• Perform safety-oriented duties and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Participate in scheduled education programs and staff meetings.
• Maintain vehicle and perform routine maintenance as needed.
• Deliver medications daily and manage related supplies.
• After a participant's death, collect items belonging to PACE or donated by family.
