Job summary

PACE Central Michigan is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport participants to and from the Center, while providing assistance and ensuring comfort and safety during journeys. The role requires adherence to Michigan DMV regulations and program competency standards.

The driver will maintain clean vehicles, assist with take-home supplies, and collaborate with staff and participants’ families to support participant-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Michigan Chauffer's Driver’s License.
• CPR and First Aid certification or be willing to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports participants safely to and from the Center each scheduled day, complying with Michigan DMV regulations and local statutes.
• Provides physical assistance to participants boarding and alighting from the program’s vehicles.
• Maintains the in-vehicle first aid kit, replacing supplies as needed.
• Ensures passengers wear seat belts and wheelchairs are secured.
• Assists participants with taking home supplies.
• Ensures all drivers meet PACE Central Michigan competency standards.
• Provides escort for outside appointments as needed.
• Maintains vehicles in a neat, clean condition and arranges maintenance as needed.
• Reports any vehicle problems or incidents to the transportation supervisor.
• Observes and reports changes in participants’ condition to appropriate staff.
• Collaborates with staff and families using participant-centered care.
• Participates in staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
