Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Board of Certification eligible; ASCP or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year internship/experience in accredited hospital or MT program with active licensure considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen testing (manual and automated) and operates laboratory instruments.
• Obtains specimens for analysis in hospital and off-site locations.
• Oversees maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and procedures.
• Performs Linearity, Calibrations, and Quality Control as required by instrument and accreditation guidelines.
• Performs all assigned Proficiency Testing in a timely manner.
• Reviews and signs electronic document control records as assigned.
• Assists with lab clerical duties including recalling results, faxing reports, and calling alert values to physicians.
• Documents and reports NCE investigation.
• Uses Meditech to create site batches for specimen transport.
• Directs and trains students and new lab staff in procedures and operation of instruments.
• Replenishes supplies and maintains stock in working area.
• Under supervision, researches and evaluates new products, procedures, and equipment.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
