Job summary

Riverside Health System in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Medical Technologist to work under the supervisor in the laboratory, performing technical procedures in hematology, chemistry, serology, blood bank, point of care testing, urinalysis and microbiology.

You will follow quality control guidelines, maintain equipment, assist in training, and participate in proficiency testing to ensure CAP, DNV, CLIA and other accrediting standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Technology/Clinical Lab Science or related field is required.
• 2 years clinical lab experience preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications: Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP/CLS or MLS AMT upon hire (Required) or MLS AMT/ASCP upon hire (Required)

Responsibilities

• Performs technical procedures in Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, Blood Bank, Point of Care Testing, Urinalysis and Microbiology.
• Facilitates positive customer service throughout the department/facility.
• Responds timely to customer needs.
• Communicates variances in laboratory operations and patient data with physicians.
• Maintains quality control and QA guidelines as per SOPs.
• Performs routine maintenance and inventory control of equipment.
• Ensures department accreditation readiness with CAP, DNV, CLIA, etc.
• Assists in training staff and students.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection as applicable.
