Job summary

It requires a BS in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with clinical rotation, and current MT certification or eligibility. The position supports quality assurance and ongoing education initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with clinical rotation.
• Alternative: regionally accredited BA with biology, chemistry and mathematics and NAACLS MT program.
• Alternative: BA with biology, chemistry and math, plus one year of full-time clinical lab experience in MT areas within last ten years.
• Clinical rotations must be supervised by a licensed pathologist or certified MT supervisor.
• New graduate to 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory settings.
• Current or eligible ASCP, AMT, or NCA MT certification; if eligible, credential within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen processing and microscopy procedures including inoculation of media and examination of stains.
• Performs tests for detection/identification of infectious agents.
• Performs antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Maintains efficient workflow and timely test turnaround.
• Produces clear patient reports in electronic or written form.
• Reviews patient reports for accuracy and completeness and takes corrective action as needed.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and records maintenance actions.
• Identifies and troubleshoots problems and initiates corrective actions.
• Participates in Quality Assurance and Improvement programs and maintains related records.
• Assists in training and competency of testing personnel and documentation.”
• Assists evaluation of test methodologies and performance characteristics.
• Aligns daily work with Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital policies.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology) with clinical rotation

Baccalaureate degree + NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program

Baccalaureate with biology/chemistry hours + clinical microscopy experience
