Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh seeks a laboratory professional to perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens. The role ensures accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results, operating and maintaining instrumentation while addressing quality control issues.

The candidate will mentor ALT/MLT and phlebotomists, act as a consultant, and participate in continuing education. Some duties may include specimen collection per policy and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program.
• PA locations require MLS, MT, Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification within 1 year of hire.
• New York location requires CLT within 6 months of hire for new grads.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens.
• Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for tests.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation; addresses QC issues.
• Provides mentorship to ALT/MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff.
• Serves as a consultant to staff and participates in continuing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens per policy and deadlines.
